Folks, following on the success of our award-winning undergraduate interaction design program, California College of the Arts is launching a graduate program. Starting in Fall 2015, our intense one-year Master of Interaction Design program in San Francisco will equip graduates to be leaders in this fast-growing field.

We’re committed to the idea that interaction design should not only benefit commerce but also have a positive impact on society. We imagine a future where new tools and systems are made to work for everyone – where they’re more meaningful, human-centered, and delightful. Where everyone is empowered to improve their lives and their communities.

Please share this with anyone you think may be interested.

If you’re interested, I invite you to learn more – and apply – by visiting http://cca.edu/masters-ixd.
We also have an evolving FAQ.

I’ve got a background in web design and front end development (8 years approx). However I’m interested in taking a side step in my career towards more usability focused roles such as User Research or UX Consultancy.

I’m currently looking into doing an Msc (part-time, ideally 2 years) in Human Computer Interaction in either the UK or Europe.

I’m interested in an Msc that focuses on the psychology behind users’ interaction and how this influences UI/UX, user testing techniques etc it as opposed to a graphic design led course. I would prefer if the course took quite a practical approach to teaching and made it possible to manage while working (almost full-time) at the same time. Maybe I’m asking too much?

Any advice on a suitable Msc or whether or not I’m going in the right direction to take this side step is welcome.

Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA offers a BS in Interaction Design.
Although this is a new major at the College, ACCD has a rich history in interaction design, spanning the fields of graphic, transportation, entertainment, industrial and media design. Art Center graduates hold leading positions in companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and IDEO as well as startups and agencies. With the field of interaction design experiencing a period of tremendous growth, we launched a degree program dedicated to creative innovation and professional leadership in 2012. We have crafted a course of study in which students think deeply about the user’s experience, apply technology creatively and invent new approaches to interaction and design. Our curriculum emphasizes core methods, tools and processes that prepare students to lead as new technologies emerge. Transdisplinary studios mean students take class in partnership with product, automotive, entertainment, industrial design and transmedia desigers.
